$2M Premises Insurance Requirement Likely To Be Eliminated
On December 14th Bend Airport administration delivered even more great news to tenants of city-owned hangars and tiedowns, “We anticipate that new leases reflecting the reduced rent will be sent out to all T-Hangar tenants in early January. Based on tenant feedback, we anticipate that these leases will revert back to the $1 million aircraft liability coverage required prior to August 1, 2020. We understand that the new $2 million premises coverage is not obtainable by all non-commercial pilots in the current market.”
That “Tenant Feedback” was once again the efforts of a small number of tenants that contacted most every aviation insurance provider to confirm such insurance coverage is not obtainable –at any price! This evidence was presented to airport manager Tracy Williams, who has been working this issue with city risk mgt. staff. This is another example of how a small group of airport tenants and other users can come together to represent the collective interests of ALL airport users.
